Crispy, Crumbles, and Frenchie: The Three Leaf Trio (chapter 1)
Crispy
By Mira Piechota
Crispy fell down, down, down towards the forest floor. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! She thought. Crispy had just been born, yet she already knew a lot. Not everything, but a lot. She saw two others falling beside her. “Hey, guys, my name is Crispy!” She said while falling. “Er… hello, my name is Crumbles…” Said one of the other leaves. This guy is shy… Crispy thought. “Hola, amigas, me llamo es Frenchie.” “Um,” said Crispy. “That’s Spanish, not French.” “Oh.” Replied Frenchie. “Also, sick french mustache!” Crispy said. “I can see why your name is Frenchie.” “Gracias.” “Uh, dude,” Crispy responded. “Espanol again. Wait, why am I speaking spanish?” “Well,” said Frenchie. “First, thanks, and second, whoever I’m related to learns spanish.” “Why?” Asked Crispy curiously. “Who knows?”
“Actually, I do!” Said Crumbles, finally saying his second sentence. “But we have more important matters, like-” but Crumbles couldn’t finish his sentence, because all of a sudden, the three siblings hit the cold, hard forest floor. Splat! “Ugh,” said Crispy. “Why did we fall?” “I told you,” said Crumbles angrily. “Um, no, you didn’t.” Responded a confused Crispy. “Well, I tried to.” What the what? Thought Crispy. But before she could respond with a snarky comeback, Frenchie stepped in between them. “Anyway…” He said nervously, obviously trying to break up the tension. “Why don’t we go on an adventure?”
