Crispy, Crumbles, and Frenchie: The Three Leaf Trio (chapter 3)
Frenchie
“Um, okay,” said a surprised Crumbles. “Me too…?” “I know, right?” Asked Crispy. “The dirt patty is SO good!”
“Ok…”
Frenchie could sense Crumbles’s nerves almost exploding. “Now,” he said. “About those parents?”
The three leaf trio walked silently along the dirt trail. “What are those?!” Asked Crispy, pointing at some yellow, red, orange, and green paper-like shards. “I think-” Crumbles started, his face getting lighter. “I think those are dead leaves…” Crispy let out an almost silent gasp, while Frenchie nodded his leafy head solemnly, tears swelling his eyes. The group was quiet.
Sometime later, Crispy’s impatience got the best of her. “So,” she said. “Where’s our parents?” At the time, the three leaf trio returned to normal. Kind of. Crumbles slapped his leaf forehead while sighing. “We’re looking for them.” “Yeah, I know, I’m not stupid!” Crispy said, annoyed. “Really?” Crumbles muttered under his breath, but Crispy didn’t hear. “We’ve been walking for so long!” Crispy complained. “I thought we’d see our parents by now!” “There’s a word called ‘patience’, Crispy!” Crumbles said snarkily. Frenchie was sure they’d start fighting again, so he stepped in. “Crispy actually has a point, Crumbles,” He said, ignoring Crumbles’s look of surprise and Crispy’s smug smile. “Where are our parents?”
